Principal and Pedagogical Coordinator

 

Jessica has immersed herself in the early childhood education field since beginning her studies in Early Childhood Education at the 'University of Melbourne’ in 2003. She is an appointed teacher trainer for ‘Speech Development and Creative Drama’; accredited by ‘London Teacher Training College’.

 

Jessica has been inspired by the many child-centred approaches to education, in particular, the Reggio Emilia Approach, and strives to weave the essence of her beliefs into the education tapestry of her hometown Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Here at home, she began ‘Forest of Stars: a Creative Space for Kids’ in 2012, running high quality, holistic education programmes for children. She has also given talks to students and teachers at various local universities,

and in 2019, she was invited to conduct an Atelier Masterclass to an international audience by ‘Fairydust Teaching’.

 

In 2017, Jessica had the privilege of attending the Reggio Emilia International Study Group and her visit to Reggio Emilia allowed her to delve even deeper into the realms of this beautiful educational approach. She is currently undertaking her ‘MA in Innovative Early Childhood Education’ at the ‘University of Denver’, Colorado. Together with her wonderful team, as well as the community of children and families at ‘Forest of Stars’, both past and present, Jessica is constantly learning and evolving to create a nest for exploration, expression, creativity and learning.
